Autobiographical Web Site for Brian Dean
This is the main web site for all of my autobiographical files. It will include original files (i.e. files written during the actual times in question, which are not very many) and commentary.
It's important to say that although opinions change between people, I have noticed that my own opinions about events change over time. So what I thought was true in high school, for example, is quite different from what I think is true now.
The purposes for this site are as follows:
- To provide a convenient place to store my own recollections.
- To provide an example of a site which other people who are interested in writing an autobiographical web site might want to emulate.
- To give other interested people an interesting story to tell.
My life could be divided according to various categories such as, what philisophical outlook I had at the time, what kind of job I had, but for the purposes of this site I have decided to divide it into where I lived at the time. However, after having said that, these periods don't really neatly divide this way. They divide neatly that way up until the second Mantua period. However, after that, the periods don't neatly divide. Even the second Mantua period has the problem that there are two main philosophical outlooks I had at the time and so this period should be divided according to that. Also, the Akron period should really be the Kent/Akron period. However, since I only lived in Kent for about 3 months I decided to call it the Akron period. I lived in two different places during the Great Exodus. Also, I have lived in various places in Korea, but it's more fair to put all of those into one period.
Dividing it this way, the periods are as follows:
- The Ravenna Period (1965 to 1969)
- The First Mantua Period (1969 to 1976)
- The Delphos Period (1976 to 1979)
- The Fort Jennings Period (1979 to 1983)
- The Second Mantua Period (1983 to 1991)
- The Akron Period (1991 to 1993)
- The Steubenville Period (1993 to 1996)
- The Cleveland/Columbus Period (1996 to 1997)
- The Columbus Period (1997 to 2001)
- The Great Exodus (2001 to 2003)
- The Korean Period (2003 to present)
